dress: Sunday in Brooklyn, shoes: Urban, headband: Lulu Lemon
going to my parents' house was great. and weird. because my littlest sister MM has gone off to college. their house is empty, and Gem and i had the whole upstairs to ourselves. the drawers in the bathroom that connects mine and MM's rooms were emptier. no fun girlie things to borrow. no hairspray on the shelf. no winterberry moisturizer in MM's room. and most depressingly, no clothes of hers to steal. it got me sort of wistful and sappy.
i can remember when all four of us girls lived up there. how my parents (especially my Dad) survived our reign is beyond me. clothes, makeup, boys, tampons, teenaged angst and all. growing up with three sisters was the best (although sometimes we didn't think it was so great). looking back, i realize that we were the luckiest. there was always someone to hang out with, always someone to yell at when someone buys the same ultra-cool pair of Hollister jeans that you have (ahem, M!), and always someone to blame when your favorite Roxy beanie goes missing.
we are all so different, but very much the same. we do not always get along. we will always have something to argue about. we will always be fiercely loyal to one another. we will always be sisters.
girls girls girls. that was the story of our life. and now there's a new little girl who has joined the crew. my little Gem has three wonderful aunties to love her forever.
me, M, CA, MM

ReplyDeleteawwww I miss having you run into my room before bed dancing around naked while I was trying to fall asleep. The funniest part about that? it wasn't when we were little girls, it was a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteTears. Of nostalgia. Of love. Of absolute JOY at being the mother of my four favorite ladies in the world. LoveLove.
